Health Benefits of DXN ANDRO-G (Andrographis Paniculata)

What is Andrographis Paniculata?

Andrographis is a plant that is native to South Asian countries such as India and Sri Lanka. The leaf and underground stem are used to make medicine.

Andrographis is used for the common cold, osteoarthritis, infection of the throat and tonsils (tonsillopharyngitis), and a type of inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis). It is also used for many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support its other uses.

How does it work ?

Andrographis might work by stimulating the immune system. It might also prevent influenza viruses from binding to cells in the body.

Andrographis paniculata (Andro-G)

Andrographis does a great job of relieving upper-respiratory infections, such as colds or sinusitis, says new research. A study in the journal Phytomedicine reported that the herb eased symptoms such as fatigue, sleeplessness, sore throat, and runny nose up to 90%.

The Kalmegh extract and its active constituents, andrographolides were found to have liver protective properties. These compounds helped to increase bile flow and repair chemically induced liver damage.

Andrographis paniculata is a medicinal plant used in traditional Indian and Chinese medicinal systems for its various beneficial therapeutic properties.

This is due to the presence of a diterpene lactone called 'andrographolide'.

Various biological activities such as anti-inflammatory, antitumor, antihyperglycemic, antiviral, cardioprotective, and hepatoprotective properties are attributed to andrographolide and its natural analogues.

Studies have shown that not only this diterpenic lactone (andrographolide), but also other related terpenoid analogs of A. paniculata could be exploited for disease prevention due to its structural similarity with various pharmacological activities. Several scientific groups are trying to reveal the underlying mechanisms.
